Feeding Widows Program

Each December, as Christmas approaches, our team in Kenya distributes necessities to widows in villages across Kenya. This past year, our team fed over 100 widows with corn flour, wheat flour, cooking oil, rice, sugar, and soap. Our team also shares the Gospel and loves on these women. Read more below.

This year, nearly every widow had tears on their face—this year's provision seemed to be needed even more than previous years.

A thin and elderly Kuria widow, named Mama Boke, arrived at one of this year’s Widows Food Program distribution points, riding on the back of a motorcycle.

Our General Manager, James, watched as she carefully lowered herself to the ground, her body clearly weary.

“What’s wrong, Mama Boke?” he asked.

“I have malaria,” she replied softly, “but I could not miss this blessing.”

She sat quietly as food was distributed to the other widows.

When everyone had been served, James prayed for her—simply and sincerely.

“Get well soon,” he said as she climbed back onto the motorcycle, balancing nearly seventy pounds of food between herself and the driver as they drove away.

The next morning, Mama Boke sent her grandson to find James’ phone number.

“Hello, James,” she said when he answered. “This is Mama Boke. I woke up this morning completely healed.”
